In a landmark move, Brazil’s Senate Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) approved the legalization of casinos, bingos, and jogo do bicho. Senator Irajá’s Bill 2,234/2022 received 14 votes in favor and 12 against. This bill will now advance to the House Plenary and, barring any modifications will proceed to presidential sanction.

This decision comes after numerous delays and resistance from opponents of legalized gambling. The CCJ finally voted on Senator Irajá’s proposal, which aims to bring gambling into the legal framework in Brazil.

During the opening discussions, Senator Irajá emphasized the potential social and economic benefits of legalizing gambling. Repeating what he originally said in 2022, PlayStation boss Hermen Hulst said during Sony’s latest business update briefing that Sony will not launch most of its first-party “tentpole” titles to PC at the same time as they come to PlayStation 5. The exception here is for live-service titles, which is something Hulst also made clear years ago. Microsoft, on the other hand, launches many of its first-party games on Xbox and PC at the same time, and also as day-one releases on Game Pass.

“We have a dual approach here. On the live-service side, we are releasing our titles simultaneously, so day-and-date on PlayStation 5 and PC. But with our tentpole titles–our single-player, narrative-driven titles that are the backbone of what PlayStation Studios has delivered in recent years and in our history–we take a more strategic approach,” Hulst, the new co-CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said.

Six Flags amusement parks is bringing familiar horror icons as part of its annual Fright Fest Halloween celebration. Fright Fest has been scaring attendees since 1986 with various themed attractions and collaborations between different horror properties. This year the parks are leaning into huge horror franchises like The Conjuring Universe, the Saw movies, and Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the latter two of which were previously showcased at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.

Fright Fest is set to open on September 7 at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey and Six Flags Magic Mountain in Los Angeles. Both parks will have the bulk of the haunted house mazes, with Texas Chainsaw Massacre exclusive to Great Adventure and DCeased exclusive to Six Flags Mexico, based on the zombie event at DC Comics.
