PlayStation Boss Reveals Why Sony Doesn't Release Most PS5 Games On PC Day-And-Date

Repeating what he originally said in 2022, PlayStation boss Hermen Hulst said during Sony’s latest business update briefing that Sony will not launch most of its first-party “tentpole” titles to PC at the same time as they come to PlayStation 5. The exception here is for live-service titles, which is something Hulst also made clear years ago. Microsoft, on the other hand, launches many of its first-party games on Xbox and PC at the same time, and also as day-one releases on Game Pass.

“We have a dual approach here. On the live-service side, we are releasing our titles simultaneously, so day-and-date on PlayStation 5 and PC. But with our tentpole titles–our single-player, narrative-driven titles that are the backbone of what PlayStation Studios has delivered in recent years and in our history–we take a more strategic approach,” Hulst, the new co-CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said.

Six Flags amusement parks is bringing familiar horror icons as part of its annual Fright Fest Halloween celebration. Fright Fest has been scaring attendees since 1986 with various themed attractions and collaborations between different horror properties. This year the parks are leaning into huge horror franchises like The Conjuring Universe, the Saw movies, and Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the latter two of which were previously showcased at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.

Fright Fest is set to open on September 7 at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey and Six Flags Magic Mountain in Los Angeles. Both parks will have the bulk of the haunted house mazes, with Texas Chainsaw Massacre exclusive to Great Adventure and DCeased exclusive to Six Flags Mexico, based on the zombie event at DC Comics.

AMD’s universal Fluid Motion Frames technology could be headed for older graphics cards-

We’re still processing all the details surrounding AMD’s new FSR 3 scaling technology and its new Fluid Motion Frames feature. But one of the more interesting elements was a game-agnostic version of Fluid Motion Frames designed to be compatible with all DX11 and DX12 games.

The problem was that this particular take on Fluid Motion Frames is limited to AMD’s latest RDNA 3 GPUs, like the new Radeon RX 7700 XT and 7800 XT. That’s a pity. Because a technology that’s equivalent to Nvidia Frame Generation but works on older GPUs would be great.

However, AMD’s graphics boss Scott Herkelman says that this feature could be coming to not only RDNA 2 GPUs, otherwise known as the Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards, but perhaps even older cards, too.

Speaking to Club386, Herkelman said RDNA 2 support would depend how well the industry receives Fluid Motion Frames tech in general.

Bayonetta creator and co-founder Hideki Kamiya to leave Platinum- ‘Keep your eyes peeled’-

PlatinumGames co-founder Hideki Kamiya has revealed that he’ll be parting ways with the studio next month.

The news was originally announced on the developer’s Twitter, where a statement reads: “We regret to announce that Hideki Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023. We are truly grateful for his creative ideas, leadership, and contribution to the growth of PlatinumGames from our start-up to this very day.”

It seems as though Kamiya isn’t stepping away from game development entirely though. “We believe that he will continue to succeed in his future endeavours as a game creator,” the statement continued. “We are looking forward to seeing the game industry grow into a better place with him in it. We wish him all the best for the future!”

The news was later backed up by a couple of tweets from Kamiya himself, who said the decision to leave “came after a lot of consideration based on my own beliefs, and was by no means an easy decision to make.” In a follow-up tweet, he said: “However, I feel this outcome is for the best. I will continue to create in my Hideki Kamiya way. I hope you’ll keep your eyes peeled.”
